Program

At Willow Oak Montessori, we work with families to provide each child with an individual education experience tailored to his/her unique developmental needs. Our mixed-age classrooms each serve 25 children, with a student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 13:1. 

Half-day preschool students have a work cycle, circle time, snack, and outdoor recess with their class each day. Full-day preschool students also eat lunch with their classes and then are dismissed to the Chestnut Classroom for nap/rest time and some additional free play/outdoor time. 

Our students spend time outside most days, and each classroom has an outdoor learning environment that is an extension of the classroom. Parent participation in the classroom is encouraged once the classroom has "normalized" in the fall. Parents may help out with language lessons, art projects, cooking projects, and in many other ways, depending on their skills, experiences, and interests.

Teachers host formal conferences with parents or guardians twice per year.  Between conferences, our teachers reach out to families on a regular basis to discuss developmental milestones and any concerns that arise in the classroom.
