Willow Oak Children's House Preschool is NOW ENROLLING
Q: What ages are eligible to attend the Children's House?
A: Once your child is 3 years old, they meet the minimum age that is required to attend our preschool. We are required to follow the NC kindergarten cut-off for the eldest in our program as they are part of the charter school, this means that if your child turns 5 on or before August 31st they must apply to our charter school's admissions lottery to be eligible to attend our kindergarten program.
Q: How many classrooms are at Children’s House?
A: We have three multi-age classrooms of preschool & public kindergarten-aged children. Each class serves 25 children, students range in age from 3 to 6 years old. Student/Teacher ratio is approx. 13:1.
Q: What time is drop off & pick up?
A: Students are dropped off between 8:00 - 8:15am and picked up between 11:45-12:00pm or 2:50-3:00pm, depending on if they are half-day or full-day students.
Q: Are you open year-round?
A: No, as a preschool we follow the same calendar as the charter school. We operate from mid/late August until early June, with the observance of Fall, Winter, Spring breaks, as well as other days like teacher workdays. The Children's House has traditionally offered some summer camps but will not be able to offer them this summer, 2021, as we are completing some work on our campus.
Q: Do students have outdoor time?
A: Yes! Weather permitting, we spend time on the playground at the beginning, middle, and/or end of each day. Each class also has an outdoor learning environment that is an extension of the classroom.
Q: Do children need to be fully out of diapers in order to be eligible to attend the Children’s House?
A: Yes, children need to be able to take care of their toileting needs with minimal to no assistance.
Q: Do you offer an extended day?
A: Yes! Children are able to stay for the full school day, 8:00am - 3:00pm as well as adding on before and after school care. Before school begins at 7:30am and after school runs until 6:00pm
Q: What is the status of the new shared campus for WOM Children’s House and WOM Charter School?
A: The Willow Oak Montessori Foundation Board of Directors has been diligently working to keep the construction progress moving on our combined permanent campus. The doors will open in August 2020 on our Andrew Store road facility.
Q: Do students that attend Willow Oak Montessori Children’s House receive priority if interested in attending Willow Oak Montessori Charter School?
A: No priority is given to Children’s House students in the Charter School lottery. The Charter School currently serves students in grades K-8.
